Sometimes writing a blog is harder than it appears. Oh, the writing isn't difficult but the subject matter can be, especially when you're trying to be topical. This month was no exception as I've waited to the last day of the month to come up with something.
OK, part of the delay was being glued to the first 100 days of our new president. No, this won't be a politically laced blog but I will make draw some parallels.
I'm proud to say that Chowdafest has always celebrated diversity! How can any true chowda-head not appreciate the myriad of different chowders, bisque and soups - all delicious in their own way? Of course, the incredible culinary talent behind these soups originates from a group of chefs with an equally diverse background.
While all chowders are not created equal, we can treat them with equal respect which is why Chowdafest has always had separate categories to judge from. You simply can't compare a New England clam chowder to a clear broth Rhode Island clam chowder to a lobster bisque. However, you can find them all equally delectable!
We're proud to announce a 5th category to our 10th annual competition this fall, vegetarian! We felt our vegetarian entries needed their own category and this would make the event more enjoyable for our vegetarian foodies. It's all about celebrating diversity and inclusiveness, that's what makes Chowdafest great year after year. OK, I'm done now. Chowda on!
