The unofficial start of summer has occurred and so does the myriad of food festivals and we celebrate them all. Coming in June is both the oldest chowder competition in the Newport Great Chowder Cook-off - 34 years in the making. Only one year behind them is the Portsmouth Chowder Festival held on June 3rd.
The Portsmouth event brings 15+ restaurants from their tri-state area (NH, ME and MA). It kicks off the summer tourism season for them. We have their fan favorite champ competing for the 2nd year at Chowdafest. Across the bridge we'll have Robert's Maine Grille from Kittery in our competition too. This fun event goes through over 500 gallons of chowder.
Also in the upcoming month is the Asparagus Festival in Hadley MA. Ever have chilled asparagus soup - divine! There's the Cocktails and Clams event at the Copps Island Oyster dockside headquarters in Norwalk. All these event sill help build an appetite for Chowdafest this fall. Happy eating!
