You never know when you come across a hidden gem. That's the way I felt earlier this month as I was down visiting our friends at The Restaurant at Rowayton Seafood. Adjacent to this popular seafood restaurant is actually a market. You can go in and get lobster for lobster rolls along with great fresh seafood for barbecues but you'll also find some of the most intriguing soups and chowders.
Chef Scott's latest concoction caught my eye and teased the senses when I read: Ginger Carrot Scallop soup! It was a chilled soup to boot. Well, 'wow' simply doesn't do this soup justice. At first I thought maybe it would be like a ginger dressing but it was a pureed genius. What a treat to sip this decadence while hearing how he prepared the soup and then added cooked scallops. He gave me a sample which lead to buying some to share at home which I got to say, was very hard to do as my instincts were to hoard it all myself - possibly savor it (and finish it) all the way home but I somehow managed to bring it home without incidence.
It's worth making your way to Rowayton which is a wonderful quaint seaside New England section of Norwalk. If you do, swing by the market and literally see what Chef Scott has cooking. I read recently he made a chilled cucumber walnut yogurt soup too. I'm keeping an eye out for these guys competing in 2016 - the quest for the best never ceases. Chowda-On!
