So here it was a Thursday night but we beat the late night crowd. I swear the dinner was more a gift to me than even my happy daughter realized. While the regular menu is great, the daily specials are to die for! Manager Kathy steered me to getting the poblano soup which is most definitely Chowdafest "worthy"! Chef Michael Young also had a corn chowder on the menu which always gets my attention but didn't travel down that road when something as intriguing as poblano soup is on the menu - delicious!
However, it was the mussels appetizer that stole the show. In a jalapeno and Chipotle cream sauce - UFB!! So, so, so good. The mussels were among the best I've ever had. I poured the sauce into a cup and ate it like a soup and as a soup - WOW. A sign of a good meal is you're still talking about it days later. I'm told the mussels usually make the brunch menu so I'll be back. Probably standing in a long line right behind you - it's worth the wait. Here's hoping Michael makes it a soup for those who can't eat seafood. Just great! Valencia's in in Norwalk CT - google directions.
