In the past couple weeks we've been busy presenting sponsorship opportunities to a select group of great companies that would be a ideal fit for this culinary festival. How perfect would CT's own, Newman's Own be as a sponsor? This very special food company exists solely to donate profits to charity. So supporting Chowdafest not only benefits the food bank but drives sales of their own products which raises even more money for other worthy charities. Does it really get any better?
Actually, it does. CT is home to some incredible companies like Pepperidge Farm and Nestle Waters. Can you imagine Norwalk based Pepperidge Farm Goldfish being the Official Cracker of Chowdafest? We can! How great would it be to see their Goldfish mobile right on the event floor with both young and old kids alike sampling all their snacking flavors? Right now, you're asking "They have a car in the shape of a Goldfish?" and the answer is yes, right down to "Finn's" infamous sunglasses! Hopefully Pepperidge Farm will swim on board and be part of this very special event that's right in their own backyard.
We can also imagine all the chowder & soup being washed down by Acqua Panna natural spring water. Acqua Panna is a Nestle Water's upscale brand that you typically find at fine restaurants. Then there's Clarke Corp that is the exclusive New England distributor of Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. They're considering raising the bar by bringing their awesome cooking stage to our event to showcase some of the incredible culinary talent involved in Chowdafest. I can't wait to take a picture of all our participating chefs up on stage for a group photo knowing some of them will still be standing there hours later accepting their Chowdafest trophies!
We already have an arsenal of terrific sponsors who are back again to support Chowdafest including Stop & Shop who is our presenting sponsor, CT based The Farmer's Cow and FIAT of Fairfield County which is the Official Car of "Ciao"dafest of course. Our friends at World Centric will once again play a very important role providing our compostable cups, spoons and containers making Chowdafest a zero waste event. This eco-friendly company might be based in CA but they're thinking of a better planet for us East Coasters too! Last year we did a live taste testing over the airwaves of Star 99.9. We're hoping maybe we can make that weekly event during January since there's so much to sample. Of course, you won't be able to see them over the radio but if anyone can make you practically smell the decadence, it's Tad & Anna in the morning!
We're waiting to officially announce our new promotion coming this fall and hoping to secure a national cellular company to sponsor what we're calling "You Make the Call". With so many restaurants wanting to compete in our marquee event we've decided we needed a "play-in" round where restaurants can qualify to compete based on people's voting prior to the event. They'll literally use their smart phones to vote or "make the call" to let us know who they think is Chowdafest worthy. Hopefully we'll be "Sprint-ing" to announce this exciting news and details later this month.
I'm also excited about the possibility of TD Bank coming on board. Last year, Chowdafest tickets were only available at the box office but we're hoping to make them available at both at Stop & Shops and in this case, TD Bank. It's makes so much sense that "America's Most Convenient Bank" provides this convenience for all the Chowderfest fans. It will save everyone time standing in the cold at the box office. You also have to admire them putting customers first, ahead of any concerns that our event is being held at an arena with a competitor's name on it. Sort of reminds you of 'Miracle on 34th Street' where the Macy's Santa Claus tells a customer they can find what they are looking for at Gimbels. Seriously, when do you see this kind of honest and earnest marketing? I think I'm going to set up a TD account already. You gotta love it.
OK, so this is more than just a 'word' about our sponsors but we're excited about their possible participation and helping Chowdafest become the #1 competition in New England.
